The patent date is not fully stamped and the year it was made is unknown. It could be from the 1800s or early 1900s. There is a loop at the top for hanging it on a chain, string, cord, nail, keychain, or a key ring. It has (4) slots on three sides to gauge violin string sizes. These are marked: ''D - 4321'', ''AG - 4321'', and ''E - 4321''. It is also marked as follows: C. F. ALBERT
