There are two pictures showing a view of the covers of the (2) Old Lowneys Chocolates Candy Boxes in this lot. they are not dated but believed to be from the 1930's. The second one has some lightly penciled words on the bottom that read: From Carole Sonny For Mothers Day 1949 The first box is a one pound box. It has an embossed image of Dutch Girls, Windmill, Rowboat, Bridge, and Cows on the lid. There are gold floral images on the sides. It is a Milk Assorted Package with (34) different candies listed on the bottom. Besides the list it is marked as follows: Lowney's Chocolates Subject To Slight Variations Walter M. Lowney Co., Cambridge, Mass. The second box has the lid covered with a gold foil with an applied paper image. The Artist for the art is R. Weber. Besides the ingredients on the foil section, it is marked on the lid and side as follows: Lowney's Chocolates 1-1/2 Pounds Net Patent Applied For Made By Walter M. Lowney Co., Cambridge, Mass. The first box measures 8-3/4" x 4-3/4" x 2". It is only in good condition with wear all over and some separations on the side of the lid. The second box measures 8-3/8" x 7-1/4" x 2". It is in excellent condition. |
