9;9;Life Is Peachy9;9; is Korn9;s second album. The album was released on October 15, 1996 through Immortal / Epic Records and has sold over 2,850,000 copies worldwide. It was produced by Ross Robinson who also produced their debut album, 9;9;Korn9;9;. The album features a darker sound than the debut album, but contains more unconventional themes. A video was made showing Korn recording 9;9;Life Is Peachy9;9;, entitled 9;9;Who Then Now?9;9; which was included on the follow up release Deuce. On 9;9;Who Then Now?9;9; it can be heard that they came in and wrote the entire album in around two days. This is because of their touring for their self titled album and they also wanted to hit the road as soon as possible.
"Low Rider" is a cover of the song by the band 9;9;War9;9;, with vocals by guitarist Brian 9;9;Head9;9; Welch. 9;9;Porno Creep9;9; takes the style of the wah-drenched pseudo funk music which features on the soundtracks of many 1970s porn movies. 9;9;K@#Ø%!9;9; is a song with many obscene lyrics written as a joke to spite radio censors. 9;9;Wicked9;9; is a cover of Ice Cube9;s song, performed by Chino Moreno of 9;9;Deftones9;9;. Both bands had played together several times, with Moreno performing the song with Korn on these occasions. A b-side to this album entitled 9;9;Proud9;9;, can be found on the 9;9;I Know What You Did Last Summer9;9; soundtrack and on 9;9;Live and Rare9;9;. 9;9;Twist9;9; was a song that Korn were going to use on their self titled album, as they mention it in the intro to 9;9;Clown9;9;. 9;9;No Place To Hide9;9; earned the band a second Grammy nomination in Best Metal Performance category (it was nominated in year 1998).
Under the CD, there is a quote from the country and western song 9;9;Streets of Bakersfield9;9;, which was written for Buck Owens by Homer Joy. The album debuted on the #3 spot on The Billboard 200, selling 106,000 of copies in its first week despite minimal radio airplay and TV attention. To date, it has sold over 2 million units in the United States. This album is considered by many fans and critics alike to be Korn9;s signature sound and the definitive sound of the nu-metal genre.
