| | | The picture shows a view of this Colorful1935 State Street Carthage New York Linen Post Card. This postcard is postmarked from Carthage, N.Y. on September 6, 1935. It has a very lightly written address in pencil and it was mailed to a Somersworth, New Hampshire address. It has a green Benjamin Franklin one cent postage stamp. The card pictures the downtown State Street scene with buildings, old automobiles, people, a clock, awnings, and advertising signs. Some of the old signs can be read such as ''MARKET BASKET'', ''MARKET BASKET MEATS & GROCERIES'', ''CANDY - SODA - LUNCH'', ''GRAND UNION'', ''CHAMBER OF COMMERCE'', ''RESTAURANT - CANDY - SODA'', and more. It is marked on the front and back as follows: STATE STREET LOOKING SOUTH, CARTHAGE, N.Y. PUB. BY WM. JUBB CO., INC., SYRACUSE, N.Y. The postcard measures about 5-1/2'' x 3-1/2''. It appears to be in near mint used condition as pictured. |
