The picture shows a front and back view of this Early Embossed Goldmarks Percussion Cap Metal Can Cover. This is a cover only. There is no container for the metal lid. This brass cover is not dated but it is believed to be from the Civil War era (1861 - 1965) or earlier. The entire cover is embossed. Like an early American coin it has an American eagle. It is facing left with a shield. It is clutching arrows and branches in its talons. It is marked as follows:

DR. J. GOLDMARK'S PATENT AMERICAN
SAFETY PERCUSSION CAPS
D 100 G
WARRANTED WATERPROOF
NO. 1

The can cover measures 1-9/16'' wide. It is in good condition considering its age. It has some bends and wear as pictured.
