| | | | The picture shows a view of this Old Clark's O.N.T. Mercerized Sewing Thread Advertising Box. This empty box is not dated but it is old. ''The Clark Thread Company has a long history beginning in 1806 when Patrick Clark developed a method of twisting cotton yard together in such a way it soon replaced linen and silk thread because it was so strong. In 1884, one of Clark's grandsons developed a six cord, spool cotton thread that was suitable for machine use, thereby revolutionizing the sewing industry. It was called O.N.T. (Our New Thread) and became the trademark for the Clark Thread Company.'' The box has a bottom and an imprinted cover or lid. It is imprinted in blue and black. The box is marked on the top and two short sides as follows: CLARK'S O.N.T. BOILFAST MERCERIZED SEWING
