| | | The picture shows a view of this Bread Not Bombs Hunger Task Force Pin Back Button. The year this pinback button was made is unknown. Originally it came on a card. the card is not present but it read as follows: The ''Bread and Roses'' motif of the Hunger Task Force button is rooted in the early struggle for justice in New England. ''Bread and Roses Too'' was the cry of the textile strikers, mostly women, in Lawrence (Massachusettts) during the Winter of 1912. The bread was the symbol of human necessities and the rose expressed the human longing for beauty and dignity. ''Bread and Roses'' is an affirmation of the goodness of creation to be shared by all God's children. Can we hope for less? The pin back button measures 1-1/2'' wide and is in near mint condition as pictured. |
