Belcher & Taylor started out as the Belcher Iron Works in 1786 by Bildad B. Belcher. It was later renamed The Belcher Company and began to manufacture and export farming equipment when the railway was extended to Chicopee. In 1863, feeling the need for more money, Mr. Belcher partnered with George S. Taylor and in the fall of 1864 the company was renamed Belcher and Taylor Agricultural Tool Company. This company became one of the leading manufacturers of agricultural equipment through the mid 1800’s to the early 1900s by purchasing the rights to manufacture the best agricultural technology of the day.'' The advertising trade card measures about 5-1/2'' x 3-3/8''. It is in excellent condition. There is one light corner bend and another had been lightly bumped. The back has some age discoloration as pictured where another paper item was in contact with it for many years. |
