The pictures below show four larger front and back views of this Small Old Steiff Mecki Hedgehog Character Doll Figure. There is only one toy doll being offered here, with different views are being shown. It has jointed arms and legs. He is holding a miniature beer mug, and a cloth napkin. Perhaps he is a Bartender, or a Waiter. He has a blue and white plaid shirt, a red apron (with a red string), a pair of gray pants with painted patches, brown shoes, and a yellow neckerchief. The doll or figure is marked “MADE IN KOREA” on the bottom of his shoe. The Mecki is a fictional German hedgehog cartoon character that was created by German artist, Ferdinand Diehl, for the popular German magazine HorZu, making his debut in 1949. Mecki loves to play tricks and practical jokes. Mecki has been the unofficial mascot of Jefferson’s Gemuetlichkeit Days festival for decades. Deihl Brothers, were a filmaking business organized by brother Ferdinand, Hermann and Paul Diehl. The Diehl brothers were based in Munich and were known for their stop motion fairy tale movies and their famous character, a hedgehog named Mecki. Mecki's popularity in Germany created licensing deals for filmmakers and the character’s success and popularity has been compared to Mickey Mouse. This small character toy doll measures about 3-3/8'' tall. It appears to be in excellent to mint condition as pictured. |
