|The pictures below show larger views of all (9) Different Small Colorful Old Hunter or Hunting Scene Art Prints in this lot. These paper prints are not dated but they are old. These were found in an old estate amongst many old photo carte de visites (CDV) and cabinet cards. They each show different Hunter or hunting scenes with men and animals by Artist Robert Farrington Elwell. Robert Farrington Elwell (1874 - 1962) was an American Artist or Western Painter.|
We do not know how these were acquired. Our best guess would be that they they were either ordered as small prints for framing, or they may have been destined to be used on old advertising premium calendars. The backs are blank. These have a small amount of extra paper or spots at the top of the back like they had been attached to another paper item at one time. The colorful images are printed on paper and they are mounted, at the tops, on to card stock paper. The card under the pictures are marked as follows:
THE OSBOURNE CO.
This company was from Newark, New Jersey and Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Each print has a caption at the bottom and an ''© R. Farrington Elwell'' Artist facsimile signature. In the order that they are pictured, the captions read as follows:
A CRITICAL MOMENT
IN NATURE'S FASTNESSES
CAUGHT IN THE ACT
''AND I BOUGHT HIM FOR A BIRD DOG!''
THE SPORT AND THE SPORTSMAN
DOWN ON HIS LUCK
A LOOSE CINCH
A BATTLE FOR EXISTENCE
These each measure about 4-1/2'' x 5-1/2''. They appear to be in very good to excellent condition as pictured with some light wrinkling or creasing from being mounted on the backing cards.
